Malawi Spotlight
Malawi Spotlight: Analytical Journalism on Malawi
I founded Malawi Spotlight, a Malawian digital news platform. The site curates and analyses stories already trending in the news, adding context and depth, across politics, the economy, elections and technology.
The problem
News in Malawi moves fast, but depth often gets lost. Stories break, then fade, before readers understand what they mean. Malawi needed a platform that goes beyond the headline, to explain the economics, the politics and the long-term stakes behind each story
By doing so, the platform would create space for context, accountability and informed public debate rather than just a stream of breaking updates.
The solution: analytical journalism on Malawi
Malawi Spotlight curates and analyses stories already trending in Malawi’s media, rather than chasing breaking news first.
It adds context, data and multiple viewpoints. My team writes analytical journalism on Malawi’s politics, economy, elections and technology sector, going beyond the headline to explain what each story means.
My team keeps the reporting balanced, present multiple perspectives, and avoid fictional quotes.

Malawi Spotlight in context
