My development research looks at how assistive technology (AT) innovation ecosystems work in Southern Africa. This research supports people with disabilities across the region.

For over 10 years, I have taken part in research projects on disability and assistive technology. My doctoral studies built on this work and pushed it further.

• Perspectives on a Mobile Application that Maps Assistive Technology Resources in Africa (2019).
• Lessons from the Pilot of a Mobile Application to Map Assistive Technology Suppliers in Africa (2018).
• Promoting Inclusion of Children with Disabilities into Basic Education for All Programmes in Malawi (2015).

This research led to the Assistive Technology Innovation wiki and database, a free platform that gathers case studies and resources on AT innovation across Southern Africa and beyond. My research findings feed directly into the tools and platforms I build, so the two areas of my work support each other.
