First Web Foundation: Free Websites for Nonprofits in Africa
I founded First Web Foundation to give free websites to nonprofits across Africa. It also helps social enterprises and social influencers build a digital presence. The foundation offers web design, hosting, digital marketing and skills training.
Beyond supporting nonprofits, I also provide professional project management services to help organisations plan, execute and deliver successful initiatives. My approach focuses on clear communication, effective resource management and measurable outcomes that ensure projects achieve their intended impact.
Through my work in digital innovation, I help organisations adopt modern technologies and creative solutions that improve efficiency, engagement and long-term sustainability. The problem
Small nonprofits and social enterprises across Africa often have no website at all. Many can’t afford web design, hosting or digital marketing. Without a website, they struggle to reach donors, tell their story, or apply for grants that expect an online presence.
In addition, even if they had websites, many lack basic digital innovation skills (including basic SEO) to rech their targeted audience.
The solution: free websites for nonprofits in Africa
First Web Foundation started in 2003 in India. It expanded to Malawi in 2006, then registered as a South African nonprofit in 2019 (NPO 234-604). By 2025, it works across Africa. The foundation gives small nonprofits, social enterprises and social influencers free web design, subsidised hosting, SEO, and digital marketing support.
What First Web Foundation Does

Web design and hosting
We provide free web development, subsidised domains, and hosting for nonprofits with real community impact. A Malawian NGO, Chance for Change, is one many examples First Web Foundation has helped for free.
SEO and digital marketing
We help nonprofit websites rank higher in Google searches. We also build tailored digital marketing strategies to reach donors and supporters online. For instance, we’re currently helping an NGO called WAG Disability Rights with these free services.
Capacity building
We partner with Executive Edge Coaching and Training to offer digital strategic planning, and design training using tools like Canva for youths Affiliate with nonprofits or social enterprises.
Digital fundraising support
We leverage new online technology to support small nonprofits by offering crowdfunding support, peer-to-peer fundraising programmes, and email marketing help.
Technology access
We partner with TechSoup South Africa, Google for Nonprofits, Microsoft for Nonprofits, and Canva for Nonprofits, to give organisations software, cloud storage, and productivity tools.
